Former Principal of Stella Maris College
Juliana a true Franciscan who enjoyed and cared for Nature:
It is with mixed feelings that I received the news of Sr. Juliana’s entry into Heaven, thanks to Sr. Leony for her thoughtfulness in informing me about Sr. Juliana’s critical condition. I am also grateful to Sr. Leony for being with Sr. Juliana during the last few days of her earthly sojourn.
My memories of Sr. Juliana date back to when I was her student in the PUC class in 1963. Sr. Juliana had just then returned from the United States of America where she had gone to complete her higher studies in Mathematics at Boston College. She was young and beautiful with chubby cheeks and a calm, composed demeanor. As a member of the faculty of the department of Mathematics and
later as its Head, she was loved and admired by her colleagues and students. She had a passion for her subject which she taught with verve to many generations of students. She also taught Catholic Doctrine to students of other departments. She was and is held in esteem especially for her humane qualities.
Once I asked Sr. Juliana about her gentle movements since I had observed her always walking across the OAT area by taking gentle and caring steps. She told me: “I walk gently as I do not want to harm or hurt the tiny insects or destroy the tiny flowers and plants”. A true Franciscan, she enjoyed nature and tried always to protect it.
Sr. Juliana, to me, is a reflection of GOD’s loving kindness, gentleness and goodness. ‘Blessed are the pure of heart for they shall see GOD,’ says Jesus as given in the Gospels –Beatitudes –Sermon on the Mount. Sr. Juliana had just that - purity of heart, gentleness, peace and joy. Love and caring are a few of the beautiful qualities that Sr. Juliana communicated through her life here at Stella Maris and always until she left for her heavenly abode.
May God grant her His everlasting Peace and Joy..
